THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM polit bureau member M A Baby changed his stand within hours after issuing a statement on allowing women in Sabarimala. Baby has withdrawn his earlier statement that the new affidavit will be filed by the government. “The news that giving a new affidavit is not the opinion of mine or my party,” he said.
If the supreme court issues a verdict on the case, and if the left government is in power then, the practical difficulties in implementing the verdict will be discussed with various stakeholders. The part’s opinion or perspective will not be imposed on anyone by force. The government is trying to forge a social consensus on the issue.
Today morning, Baby has said that when SC will consider the review petitions on women’s entry to Sabarimala, the government may file fresh affidavits. When it set off a controversy, Baby changed his stand. Sources say that the party has asked him to change his opinion on the issue.
“It is utter stupidity to bring a law on the issue before the state assembly when it is being reconsidered by a larger bench of the Supreme Court. That is what UDF has been doing now. The approach of the SC bench towards the case cannot be anticipated now.
