KOCHI: Bollywood actor Sunny Leone filed an anticipatory bail plea in the case of cheating Rs 29 lakh after promising to attend an inaugural function. She sought anticipatory bail on the complaint of Shiyaz, a native of Perumbavoor, for fraud and cheating. The crime branch is investigating the case. The bail plea has been filed in the name of her real name Karanjith Kaur. Her husband Daniel Weber and CEO of Suncity Media Entertainment Sunil Rajani are also accused in the case. They have also filed bail plea through n advocates’ team in Kochi.

The complaint of Shiyaz asserted that she was given an advance of Rs 29 lakh to attend various programmes in Kochi and that she accepted the amount and cheated. The crime branch probing economic offences questioned the actress who was in the capital city for shooting. However, she told the crime branch that she did not cheat anyone and had given them dates five times. Shiyaz argued that she was lying. The crime branch authorities said that she did not cheat the organizers deliberately and that the case will not exist.

The complaint alleged that the actress accepted Rs 29 lakh as fee for attending a Valentine’s Day function in Angamaly in 2019, but failed to turn up.
