PERUNNA: The NSS has said that various political parties have recently taken up the Sabarimala issue in order to influence the devotees ahead of the assembly elections. NSS general secretary lashed out at the parties by stating that some of them have recently raised some interesting arguments regarding the issue.
NSS stated that BJP, UDF and LDF could have done various things to protect the faith of the devotees. "The BJP, the ruling party in the Centre. could have sorted out the Sabarimala issue by introducing a law. On the other hand, the UDF says that it will introduce a law if it comes into power while it didn't even bother to introduce a bill as an opposition party. What sincerity is there in these claims?" the NSS asks.
The NSS demanded that the state government should amend the affidavit filed in the Supreme Court or introduce legislation if it wanted to protect the faith.
