THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Five candidates who were protesting in front of the secretariat demanding extension of the CPO rank list climbed on top of the building in front of the secretariat and tried to commit suicide. They were forcibly taken down by the police and arrested.

Later, a clash erupted when the police tried to block the Youth Congress activists during their protest march towards secretariat. Police resorted to lathicharge and used water cannon against the protesters who burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
