THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran has dismissed the demand that the government should file a new affidavit on Sabarimala when its case will be reconsidered by the Supreme Court. “There is no relevance for a revised affidavit and the perception that the issue came up due to the affidavit is also baseless. UDF is fooling people over the issue,” Kanam said.
“The promises made by UDF on Sabarimala issue is not going to happen. The current controversies being made up over the shrine is based on non-existing problems. The issue is under the active consideration of the Supreme Court. We will never try to go behind it,” he added.
The CPI leader also asked if Sabarimala was the poll issue during the Lok Sabha polls, then BJP which led the struggle in the forefront would have received the maximum seats but they failed in the polls. He also said that Ramesh Chennithala must tell the current issue in Sabarimala. “Do pooja and worship are not going on in Sabarimala? Do customs are not being carried out? If the answer is yes, then what is the problem?” he asked.
Kanam also added that CPI won’t bargain for more seats in the upcoming assembly polls. “Relaxing norms for those who have contested multiple times will be only decided in the state council meeting. Specific politics is suspected behind the secretariat protest of PSC rank holders. A government job cannot be given to everyone who aspires for it,” he said.
