THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that the party is not aspiring to make any political gain from the Sabarimala issue. “It is LDF who took a treacherous stand on the devotees. The government must tell with whom they are standing on Sabarimala. Why did M A Baby had a U-turn from his earlier stand. It is also not right to say that UDF has not done anything on Sabarimala issue. Even in parliament also, UDF representative tried to present a bill on the issue, which was rejected as the centre denied nod to present it,” Chennithala said.

“UDF has done everything which needs to be done in parliament and assembly. It is a misunderstanding, that all three political fronts have done nothing on Sabarimala issue. The ground reality of the issue will be communicated with NSS leadership. NSS might not have noticed the activities of UDF. It will be a burning issue in the assembly polls. No UDF MPs will contest in the assembly polls,” he said.

“These days it is more difficult to get a job via psc than getting into a psc list. Government considers those protesting in front of the secretariat as their greatest enemies. It is not us (UDF) who mobilised the protestors. Those poor people got on the street after they lost their patience. This government has not enhanced the deadline of any PSC list.

“When the job seekers started protesting in front of secretariat, they enhanced the validity of lists until the time of polls. The government has taken a humiliating stand on them. This government has done three lakh illegal appointments. The cabinet meet to be held today is going to consider the proposal to regularise 2,600 temporary appointments. This is gross injustice being done to the youth in the state,” he added.

Chennithala, responding to KT Jaleel’s challenge to contest from Tavanur has said that he is ready to contest from anywhere in Kerala. Whereas he didn’t answer to the personal allegations raised by Jaleel on him. Chennithala further said that if Mani C Kappan likes to work with UDF he would be inducted into the front. The opposition leader also added that UDF is trying to settle the issues between Jacobite and Orthodox factions of the church in an amicable and peaceful manner.
