THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The BJP came down heavily on Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor Arya Rajendran for skipping crucial meetings convened the other day. The BJP councillors are planning to stage protests against Mayor Arya Rajendran for not attending the meetings convened to prepare annual project.
She skipped a crucial discussion concerning the comprehensive development of the city. The BJP accused the mayor of betraying the people of the city by skipping an important development seminar and attending a party function in Kannur instead. The presence of the mayor was essential at the event attended by a large number of people including the MLAs. The BJP said the meeting was held in the same manner like previous years. However, they alleged that she left without realizing the seriousness of it.
Although the deputy mayor attended, he left after developing uneasiness. The mayor who called the meeting left for Kannur to attend a party meeting. The opposition accused the CPM of running a puppet show in the corporation.
The corporation has four constituencies namely Nemom, Vattiyoorkavu, Kazhakoottam and Thiruvananthapuram where a triangular fight is expected. The BJP’s move is to retaliate against the ‘rubber stamp status’.
Meantime, the mayor replied that the meeting was not important and that her non-participation in the development seminar was only a political allegation. However, some officials agree that there is an administrative crisis in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. The officials are on leave in many places including the important revenue department
