THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Speaking to the media after the Covid review meeting here, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan claimed that Covid spread is decreasing in Kerala. The Chief Minister said that despite the increase in the number of tests, the number of Covid cases has not increased in Kerala in proportion to that. But if vigil is not maintained, the disease will spread quickly, he said.

The CM quoted the ICMR's sero survey report along with his statement that the spread of the virus is decreasing in Kerala. According to the sero survey, one in four in the country had Covid-19. The CM said that only one in ten people in Kerala was infected by the virus as per the survey. The number of patients has not increased dramatically. Only by controlling the spread of the disease can the mortality rate be reduced. All the studies found that the spread of the disease is in a downward curve in Kerala. The national average is 220 per thousand and this is only 116 in Kerala. There are more people in Kerala who are at risk of contracting the disease. The Chief Minister said that there was a need to intensify the defense against the disease.
