THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet has decided to give effect to the pension reform as per the recommendation of the 11th Pay Commission from July 1, 2019. The pay revision will also take effect from the same date. The revised pension will be paid from April 1. This also applies to part-time pensioners.

Full pension for 30 years of service and minimum pension for 10 years of qualifying service will continue to be paid. The minimum basic pension will be increased to Rs 11,500 and the maximum pension to Rs 83,400. The minimum basic family pension will be increased to Rs 11,500 and the maximum basic family pension (normal rate) to Rs 50,040. The medical allowance for pensioners and family pensioners will be increased to Rs 500 per month. This will continue until the medical insurance plan is implemented.
