KOZHIKODE: An arrest warrant has been issued after cancelling the bail of Saritha S Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan in the solar case. The verdict in the case will be pronounced on February 25. Saritha and Biju received an amount of Rs 42,70,000 from Abdul Majeed, a native of Kozhikode in the name of installing solar panel. They later cheated him. The verdict will be pronounced by Kozhikode Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

The lawyer told the court that Saritha could not appear as she is undergoing chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is part of Saritha's treatment for nerve damage. Biju Radhakrishnan's lawyer told the court that he is taking rest after treatment. Both did not appear in the court.

This is one of the first case registered in the solar fraud. The case was registered by Kozhikode Kasaba police in 2012. The scam began when Abdul Majeed from Kozhikode contacted the company after seeing an advertisement for Team Solar in a magazine. Biju Radhakrishnan and Saritha appeared before Abdul Majeed as Dr R B Nair and Lakshmi Nair. They cheated money from Majeed after making him believe that solar panels would be installed in Abdul Majeed's house and his company, The Associated Steels. Biju and Saritha also promised to distribute Team Solar in four districts and help to set up a windmill near Palakkad. A total of Rs 42,70,000 was embezzled from Majeed. The trial began in 2016. The accused in the case are Biju Radhakrishnan, Saritha and Manimon, who is close to them. The case against the two is for cheating, embezzling someone else's money and using it for their own purposes, impersonation and forgery. These offenses are punishable by up to three years imprisonment.
