KOZHIKODE: Kochi Customs Preventive Commissioner Sumit Kumar, who is probing the gold smuggling case, on Friday said that a group of people followed him in four cars and attempted to attack him. Sumit said that the group attempted to attack him at Edavannappara while he was on his way to Kozhikode airport after taking part in a function in Kalpetta. Sumit Kumar said that he had lodged a complaint with the police about the incident and an FIR was registered.

Sumit Kumar was returning after inaugurating the Customs Preventive Unit in Kalpetta. After reaching Kalpetta, Sumit realised that some vehicles were following his car. The assailants' vehicles were travelling in front and behind the commissioner's vehicle. After a short distance, the four vehicles began following the Customs Commissioner's vehicle. All four vehicles followed the commissioner's car till Kondotty.
