KOZHIKODE: NCP leader A K Saseendran has said that senior party leader Mani C Kappan’s decision to join UDF has pained him. “Kappan has committed a grave injustice to the people who have elected him. There is no political situation to leave LDF. Kappan’s took the decision to join LDF, without waiting for the national leadership’s nod which was inappropriate for a political leader like him,” Saseendran said.
“The national leadership will not make a decision without asking me. Kappan’s current political moves clearly indicate that he had earlier entered into a political understanding with UDF. It is yet to be seen how many from the party will support him. You (media) will get a clear picture when you communicate with the party’s district presidents. Except for certain district committees, others have shown strong interest to continue in LDF. Media persons can enquire this. Even if one member leaves the party, it will affect the machinery. Mani was the only political leader who said that his party will grow through political splits,” he said.
Saseendran further said that Kappan should have shown more patience. “No official or informal discussion has taken place in the front over Pala seat. He has also not awaited LDF’s final decision on the Pala seat. Therefore he has violated the party’s discipline. His decision was based on a preconceived script. He has also deceived the party workers who worked hard for his victory in the polls,” Saseendran added.
