THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Mahila Congress leadership has demanded 14 seats to the KPCC. Mahila Congress has demanded one seat from every district. Mahila Congress has categorised the possible list of candidates into three categories. They are gearing up to hand over the list to party leadership after the conclusion of Chennithala’s Aishwarya Kerala Yatra.
Shanimol Usman, Bindu Krishna and Lathika Subash are in the category of candidates who should be fielded compulsorily. AICC has already informed that they will give a chance to youngsters and women across group considerations. But Mahila Congress also fears that whether everything coils be sabotaged at the last moment. In 2016 assembly polls, no woman congress leader has won. Mahila Congress leaders also point out that they were not given any sure seat. The only woman representation came when Shanimol Usman won from Aroor in the bypolls.
Shanimol Usman the sitting MLA from Aroor, will contest from there. Lathika Subash and Bindu Krishna are actively considered by the party for Ettumannor and Kollam seats. Padmaja Venugopal might get a chance to contest from Thrissur and KC Rosykutty from Kalpetta. Mahila Congress has also demanded to field former minister P K Jayalekshmi from Mananthavady constituency. Chairperson of Sreekandapuram Municipality Dr K V Philomina is likely to contest from Irrikoor, currently held by K C Joseph as the senior leader has said that he won’t contest this time.
