KOTTAYAM: It has become clear that Mani C Kappan's entry into the UDF and party announcement will not take immediately. Earlier, it was announced that the party would be formed yesterday. However, Kappan later stated that the party would be announced by the end of this month. Meanwhile, it has become evident that there is some difference of opinion between Kappan and Congress leaders with KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran rejecting Kappan's claim that the UDF leaders had agreed to give three seats to his newly formed party.
Kappan had reached Kottayam yesterday morning and visited Chennithala. Chennithala later said that the UDF would decide whether to make Kappan's party a constituent party and give him three seats.
Meanwhile, a 10-member committee, with Mani C Kappan as chairman and Adv. Babu Karthikeyan as convener has been assigned to decide on the new party constitution, flag and registration. Another meeting will be held in Thiruvananthapuram next Sunday to evaluate the activities. It is learnt that the new party will be named NCP Kerala.
Ten leaders, including three state general secretaries, left the NCP with Kappan. They will soon resign from the posts of chairman of corporation and other board positions obtained from the government.
