VENGARA: The youth who stole 40 sovereigns of gold in the name of spiritual treatment was finally arrested by the police. Shihabuddin(38) from Tirur was arrested by the police. The action was taken on the complaint of a woman from Vengara. The accused who met the woman via mobile took gold from her in return for resolving her personal problems with the help of a spiritual treatment practioner.

The woman’s relatives approached police as they got the news that Kozhikode Medical College police have nabbed Shihabudeen on a sexual assault case. Vengara station officer A Adam Khan has said many such cases have been registered against the accused in Tirur, Tanoor and Kondotty police station limits. Medical college police have also seized more than 12 sim cards from him. Even though about 40 women were cheated by the accused, many are not coming forward to file a complaint against him. Shihabudeen is also an accused in the case of attacking Tanoor SI. The accused was remanded after presenting him in Malappuram court.
