PATHANAMTHITTA: I like the beauty and greenery of Pathanamthitta, said R Nishantini who took charge as Pathanamthitta district police chief. A woman is taking charge as district police chief after 22 years. Sreelekha IPS was the district police chief from 1996 to 1998.
Nishantini reached the district yesterday after her busy schedule. She took charge three days back. She was the investigating official of Chandrabose murder case. The security employee was run over by a jeep in Thrissur. She is also in charge of Walayar case. The 39-year-old officer entered service at the age of 25.
From the beginning of her career, she was working in the Kerala cadre. She was able to work in most of the districts. Kerala is a cleaner place than Tamil Nadu. The place is close to nature.
Pathanamthitta is a peaceful place. Except for the occasional Sabarimala issue, there are no other major issues here. I have worked as Pampa ASO in 2010 and 2011. So I know all about Pathanamthitta. So far it seems to be a place of law and order.
I am a staunch devotee of Lord Ayyappa and am happy to work in the Lord’s abode.
There is no difference between male and female in cases and there are no difference in handling it. Everyone gets the consideration they deserve. However, women and children will be given top priority, in some cases it is necessary. If anything can be done on Covid crisis it will be done. Presently is busy with elections. Have directed everyone to adhere to Covid protocol. There are no big crowds here.
My native place is Trichi in Tamil Nadu. Venpa and Mithilan are my children, M G Rajamanikyam is my husband and is the managing director of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.
