LUCKNOW: Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) has been charged against the Malayali Popular Front activists arrested in Uttar Pradesh. The act was charged against Ansad from Pandalam and Firoz from Kozhikode. The UP police said the two had distributed explosives to their accomplices.

The police said Firoz is a trainer in making bombs. The two produced in the court yesterday were sent to police custody for seven days. They were arrested on Tuesday from Kukri near Lucknow with explosives and weapons.

The UP police had yesterday stated that they had come with the aim of destroying law and order in the state and taking into account the seriousness of the issue, the case has been handed over to the anti-terrorist force. The police received a tip-off on February 11 that some people were coming to UP under suspicious circumstances. An investigation was activated based on it but they could not be traced. However, details of their meeting were leaked to the Special Task Force. They had planned for an attack on Vasant Panchami Day.
