THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A major clash broke out at the secretariat march staged by KSU expressing solidarity with the striking PSC rank holders. The police surrounded many including girls. KSU state vice president Sneha sustained serious injuries on her head after she was beaten with the lathi. KSU activists threw chairs and sticks towards the police when they stopped the former from barging into the secretariat. Later a scuffle broke out between the women cops and the activists.
Police first confronted the activists in front of the cantonment gate and then surrounded them and beat those in front of the secretariat. All KSU state leaders are in front of the secretariat. KSU chief K M Abhijit was also injured in the lathicharge. As the clashes escalated, Youth Congress activists reached the spot and a war-like situation was witnessed in front of the Secretariat. The clash was in front of the Madhavarayar Statue where the rank holders are striking. More than a dozen activists have been injured in the police action.
