THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI(M) leader A Vijayaraghavan and Congress leader K Sudhakaran have stirred up fresh controversies thereby igniting electoral politics again.
The controversy erupted when the Congress and the Muslim League came down heavily on Vijayaraghavan's remark that minority communalism was more intense during his speech at Kozhikode Mukkam during the Vikasana Munnetta Yathra.
Lashing out at Vijayaraghavan, Congress-led UDF said that he was talking "in the language of BJP".
With the statement becoming controversial, Vijayaraghavan denied having said that minority communalism was more dangerous and claimed media misinterpreted the remark by taking a portion of his speech made at Mukkam.
BJP state president K Surendran described Viajyaraghavan''s statement as ''hypocrisy'' aimed at cheating the people belonging to the Hindu community at the time of the assembly elections, likely to be held in April-May.
Meanwhile, K Sudhakaran once again courted trouble with his alleged derogatory remarks against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and his family background. This is the second time within a fortnight that the Congress MP from Kannur has targetted the CM and his father. Slamming Sudhakaran for his ''casteist'' remarks against Vijayan, CPI(M) leader KK Ragesh said he creates nuisance wherever he goes. Alleging that some Left party leaders mocked the father of KPCC chief Mullapally Ramachandran, Sudhakaran called Vijayan''s father a toddy tapper. He was addressing a meeting in nearby Periya on Wednesday where he made the remarks.
