THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: SNDP General Secretary Vellapally Natesan has lavished praise on the state government. Speaking about the LDF's fine performance in the local body elections, Natesan said that the government had performed well in times of distress which eventually turned into votes.
Despite the media propaganda, the government made strides in the three-tier panchayat elections through public welfare schemes, Vellapally said.

Vellapally also said that the SNDP will announce its stand after the announcement of candidates. While praising the CPI's decision not to field those who have contested three times to the assembly in the coming elections, Vellapally raised doubt about replacing Thilothaman in Cherthala. "Who will replace Thilothaman in Cherthala? Thilothaman is popular. The CPI should reconsider its decision not to field him in the election," he said.
