THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM acting secretary A Vijayaraghavan has said that CPM has not done anything illegal in deep-sea fishing issue. He also alleged that the opposition leader is trying to defame the state government by raising baseless allegations.

“The opposition leader has only produced a thin sheet of paper, he is not concerned about its authenticity. He is constantly raising baseless allegations against the government. Will anybody will give land for deep-sea fishing? The government has given land to build a facility for seafood processing and it has no links with deep-sea fishing. The government will not resort to any illegal and anti-worker measures,” Vijayaraghavan said.

The opposition leader has earlier publicised documents relating to the controversy. Today he has released a new set of documents which includes an MoU between the government and the company and the land transfer documents between the state government and the American firm. Chennithala who questioned the MoU also asked the government why it was ratified if the document stands against the pre-existing fisheries policy of the state. He also said that EMCC officials have also met the chief minister. He also said that the CM met the company officials in New York and the company documents are proof of that.
