THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The secret survey of Congress high command predicts another term for the Pinarayi Vijayan government. The survey report shows that people consider the Pinarayi government’s resolve to go on with the state’s development despite many controversies and two floods is a plus point to give him another term. KPCC leadership has handed over a list of possible candidates to be fielded for the polls. The survey was based on the winnability of these candidates. But as it was revealed through the survey that the candidates do not have a high chance of victory, the high command has deputed two other agencies to conduct the survey again. Other than the high command’s survey, the survey reports published by two private news channels in the state also give an upper hand to the left front in the upcoming assembly polls.

The first survey result of the high command says that if polls are conducted in January, then LDF will come to power. Therefore high command has further tightened its grip over the state leadership over the selection of candidates. Even though the survey results are conducive for LDF, Congress workers hold the view that the situation will change after Ramesh Chennithala’s Aishwarya Kerala Yatra.

Rahul Gandhi who is currently in Wayanad will reach Thiruvananthapuram tomorrow. Rahul Gandhi will also evaluate the party’s poll preparedness. The reports of the three surveys have been handed over to the party leadership before the official declaration of candidates. This time Congress is aiming to grab at least 50 seats alone. The high command has taken a strong stand and has made it clear that factional politics will not be allowed this time, whereas the factions in the party are not ready to leave the seats currently held by them.

The party has deputed three agencies in Kolkata, Mumbai and Bengaluru for the survey. The details of the survey were shared with only a few party leaders in Kerala. The agencies have found suitable candidates for 100 constituencies in the state on the inference that the party will contest in at least 90 seats. Apart from Congress leaders, the list includes other public personalities and even the party sympathisers.

The party has also decided to further heighten the election campaign in the wake of the survey results. High command thinks that Muslim League will win more than 20 seats. When combined with the seats won by other constituent parties in the front, Congress workers hope that UDF can form government in the state. Only 71 seats are required to form government in the state.
