THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fisheries minister J Merykutty Amma has said that a conspiracy must be suspected behind the graft allegations raised by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala in connection with the deep-sea fishing controversy. “If somebody has done anything against the government’s policy without the government’s nod it will be thoroughly probed and brought to light. Nobody can threaten the government. Nobody should think that it will be the last nail on the coffin of the Pinarayi government,” she said.

“This government stands with the workers. Such an incident is happening for the first time in the history of the state. Whether this pandemonium and controversies are created in return for implementing development programmes. This government has implemented so many programmes for the coastal region without central assistance.

The centre will not give any money for the development of coastal harbours in the state, whereas it has no dearth of funds for Adani’s ventures. When the state government asks for money from the Centre for implementing people-centric development programmes it has no money,” the minister added.
