KOCHI: The magnificent statues of Puratchi Thalaivi Jayalalithaa, which will be installed in the museum of the Tamil Nadu government, were made by a Malayali. He is Alappuzha Poochakkal native Sajayan Madhavan. The 167 cm tall statues were completed after five months of hard work. It was made with the help of hyper-realistic silicone technology used in Hollywood movies. The body is made of silicone rubber and resin. Real hair is used on the head. The statues, that were made at his house in Poochakkal, were taken to the Amma Memorial Museum in Kamarajshalai the other day.
Edappadi Palanisamy, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, will present the museum to the public at a function that will be held today. Sajayan said the price of the statue could not be disclosed as there was a special directive from the Tamil Nadu government.
Silicone rubber was used in the process as it had similarities with human skin. It was Sajayan who made the statues of birds in superstar Rajinikanth's Enthiran 2.0. He has also done artwork for Vijay's Mersal. He also took an online course run by Stan Winston, head of the art department at the Hollywood film Jurassic Park. He has also worked as a faculty member at the College of Fine Arts, Karaikudi. His wife is Sukanya from Kottayam.
