kas-reservation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government yesterday directed to file a counter affidavit in the Supreme Court against the petition on government's order to reserve appointments in all the three streams of KAS (Kerala Administrative Service). The action comes after Kerala Kaumudi reported about this.

The government had not filed a counter affidavit despite the Supreme Court giving it two months after NSS filed a petition at the court against reservation. It is learned that following the recent Kerala Kaumudi report that this was a conspiracy by the lobby to sabotage the reservation, the office of AK Balan, the Minister for Law, Welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, had contacted the Advocate General's Office in Ernakulam and directed immediate action.

The apex court had on February 16 directed the government to file a counter affidavit within three weeks.

BS Mavoji, Chairman, State Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, directed the government to submit a counter affidavit on the petition against KAS reservation immediately.

BS Maoist Minister AK Balan sent an urgent message in this regard along with a copy of the Kerala Kaumudi report. He said the commission would issue an order if those concerned still fall short.
