THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two people went missing while bathing in the Azhimala beach. The body of one was recovered by the coast guard. The body recovered is that of Prashanth P Kumar, a native of Peyad. The other youth has been identified as Theju (29) of Balaramapuram.

The incident happened Monday morning at 5 am. The two went missing while bathing in the sea. A search is on for Theju.

Prashanth was a technical employee of a private entertainment channel in Thiruvananthapuram. The two youths along with two girls of Assam reached Azhimala last night. The four came in a car from Kovalam. After wandering in the beach the whole night, they went for a bath in the morning. The youths didn’t know swimming and were washed away by the waves. At this time, the girls were resting nearby. Hearing the youths screaming, the girls got scared and informed the locals. They immediately informed the Vizhinjam police and the coast guard. Soon the fishermen and the coast guard started a search.

The coast guard found the body of Prashanth by 9.30 am. The girls are working in a private resort in Kovalam. They got acquainted with the youths via Facebook. Vizhinjam circle inspector registered the statement of the girls.
