THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health and Revenue Ministers K K Shailaja and E Chandrasekharan took the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. The two received the first shot at COVID-19 vaccination centre in the medical college.

Minister Shailaja said the vaccination is going on smoothly in the state. So far more than four lakh people have been inoculated. No serious side effects have been reported. More than thousand centres have been arranged to administer the vaccine. Apart from this, mass vaccination centre has been organised in the capital city on an experimental basis. The possibility of mass vaccination centres are also looked into. This will allow more people to be vaccinated at a time. Everyone should be vaccinated. The vaccine should be taken after registering in the portal. Although there is a slight technical snag while registering, there are no other disruptions in Kerala, she said.

Covid resistance in Kerala is moving forward in a very scientific manner. Covid started first in Kerala but was at its peak only in the last. The death toll climbed as a result of the rise in graph in other places. Meantime, the death toll in Kerala is still 0.4%. The fact that no other deaths happened during Covid is the result of the alertness of all departments. This is rare in the world. According to ICMR's Zero Surveillance Study, the number of cured cases in Kerala is very low. Caution should be continued as the risk of contracting the disease is high. Therefore, Kerala benefits the most from taking the vaccine.

Don’t think that you are immune after taking the first dose of the vaccine. The second dose should be taken after 28 days. Immunity is attained 14 days after that. Till then one should be vigilant. The chief minister and other ministers will be taking the dose in coming days.
