KOLLAM/PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM Kollam district secretariat has reached a consensus to field incumbent MLA Mukesh in the district again. The district secretariat has also recommended the state leadership to give a second chance to Mukesh. The district leadership meeting has also decided to give another chance to incumbent MLA M Naushad to contest from Iravipuram.
The party has decided to give ticket to Sujith Vijayan, son of the deceased Chavara MLA Vijayan Pillai. The Kollam secretariat has also asked the state leadership to take a decision on whether he should be allowed to contest under CPM’s symbol. The district secretariat has also decided not to take up the Kunnatoor seat and to support Kovur Kunjumon, if he enters into the poll fray.
The district meeting has also decided to request the state leadership to give another term to J Mercykutty Amma. The district committee’s demand is to give another term to Mercykutty Amma in lines of G Sudhkaran and Thomas Issac. If another term is not given to Mercykutty Amma then S L Sajikumar or Chinta Jerome might be considered for the seat.
There is a general consensus in the district meet to field Isha Potti in Kottarakara, even though K N Balagopalan is also being considered in the Kottarakara seat. Balagopal will be the first name on the list. Therefore it is the state secretariat that will decide on the candidates. Isha Potti who has contested thrice has already asked the party to relieve her from the poll arena.
The draft list of CPM candidates from the Pathanamthitta district has been completed. Pathanamthitta district committee has decided to field incumbent MLAs— Veena George from Aranmulla and K U Janeesh Kumar from Konni again.
The district secretariat has also opposed the state leadership’s decision to give Ranni seat to the Kerala Congress Jose K Mani faction.
The committee has asked to field Raju Abraham from Ranni again. The Pathanamthitta district secretariat has recommended the state leadership to give another chance to Raju Abraham. He has been elected to Assembly five times in a row.
