NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will consider today the plea filed by the Enforcement Directorate seeking cancellation of the bail granted to M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, in the gold smuggling case. A bench led by Justice Ashok Bhushan will consider the case.
The ED said the probe in the case has not been completed and that Sivasankar is influential and his release would hamper the investigation in the case. They also asserted that if he is out of the jail it would badly affect the investigation. Meantime, the Supreme Court will consider today the plea filed by Sivasankar requesting to hear his version before the interim order.
The ED arrested Sivasankar on October 28 in the gold smuggling case. He was released on bail on February 3rd after 98 days in jail.
