ALAPPUZHA: A goonda leader, accused in the case of abducting a woman from her house in Mannar, has been arrested. He has been identified as Shams, a native of Kottayam. The quotation led by Shams was entrusted to abduct the woman identified as Bindu and hand her over. Four from the team was taken into custody earlier. Bino Varghese of Thiruvalla, Sivaprasad of Parumala, Anshad of Paravoor in Ernakulam and Subeer of Ernakulam are those arrested.
Police is of the belief that the woman has connections with this team. Bindu, who had smuggled gold several times, smuggled the yellow metal in the form of paste on February 19. This was for Rajesh of Koduvally. She was abducted by the gang after she failed to deliver the gold to them. Her statement was that she abandoned it in Mali. The police has not believed this. The customs has also launched an investigation in the case. Bindu was abducted on February 22 morning.
