THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: UDF assembly election screening committee member (strategy committee chairman) Oommen Chandy has said that seats will not be given to those who have lost twice before and those who contested and lost in the last local body elections. Oommen Chandy added that the preliminary list of UDF candidates is ready.

Oommen Chandy said that the screening committee has accepted the guideline that more than 50 percent seats should be made available to newcomers, youth and women. He said the screening committee would meet tomorrow and take a final decision on the matter.

The Front is reaching a final decision on the panels that was formed regarding the candidates in each constituency of the UDF. This panel will be discussed in tomorrow's screening committee meeting. The decision is to go to Delhi with the panel and publish the list of candidates.

Also, a decision on the seats of the UDF constituents will be taken soon. This is the first time that the Congress is moving towards such a norm before the elections. Oommen Chandy made the announcement after the Left Front took a progressive stand on the issue of candidate selection.
