THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday announced that the work of the Palarivattom bridge has been completed. However, the CM remained silent about DMRC Chief Adviser E Sreedharan while referring to the completion of the bridge.

The CM said that the project, which was expected to be completed in eight months, was completed in just five and a half months. While praising the Uralungal Labor Contract Society and the DMRC, did not mention anything about E Sreedharan, one of the key players in the reconstruction of the bridge. It was Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan who assigned E Sreedharan to oversee the reconstruction of the bridge. The CM pointed out that the bridge, which will last for 100 years, has been constructed at Palarivattom at a cost of only Rs 22 crore 80 lakh while the bridge, constructed during the previous government at an estimated cost of `41 crore 70 lakh, collapsed in one year.
