KOTTAYAM: Once again, red-whiskered bulbuls returned to the house of Baby Clement in Karappuzha's Villichira to lay their eggs in an ornamental plant kept in their living room.
This is the third year that a bird family has come to the house disregarding the residents.
The birds lately arrived home three weeks ago.
Baby Clement, a painting worker, and his wife, Rosamma, a nurse, placed a plastic ornamental plant in the living room on the second floor of their house four years ago. The window next to the ornamental plant was left open, opening the way for the bulbuls to enter the house.
First, the birds will come to the plant and establish their position. Then within a week, they will make a nest. The female bird will lay will one or two eggs in two days. The eggs hatch in two weeks. The male will fly in with food.
After two weeks, the baby birds will develop wings. Then the house becomes a stage for their naughtiness and joy.
Only happiness in that routine
Anyone who comes close to the nest except Rosamma and Baby is in for trouble. By the time the babies start flying, the bird couple will also fly out the same window. Later, it is the turn of the next group within a week after the nest is removed from the ornamental plant. Baby and his family are only happy in that routine.
