NEW DELHI: Chief election commissioner Sunil Arora has rejected the letter sent by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against ED’s probe on KIIFB. In the letter, the chief minister has raised serious allegation against finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman, he said that ED officials are summoning the officials of KIIFB due to the special interest taken by her on the case but the CEC replied to the chief minister in writing that he can’t intervene on the central probe.

“The investigation in Kerala is going on since 2020 March. Just because of poll notification, I cannot intervene in the investigation,” Sunil Arora said in his reply letter to the chief minister. Pinarayi Vijayan has sought the poll panel’s intervention citing that the probe agencies have violated the model code of conduct. The chief minister has also pointed out Nirmala Sitaraman’s statement, aired by her on February 28th while participating in the Vijaya Yatra programme of BJP’s Kerala unit.
