THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Disaster Management Department has given permission to resume second shows in cinema theaters which were stopped in the wake of the Covid outbreak. The operating hours of the theaters have been rescheduled as per the demand of the Kerala Film Exhibitors United Organization of Kerala. Instead of show timings between 9 am to 9 pm, the working hours have been rescheduled from 12 noon to 12 at night.
The Kerala Film Exhibitors' United Organization of Kerala had submitted a petition to the Government of Kerala asking to allow second shows in Kerala as in other states, and that the theaters could not move forward with the current norms.
The issue was discussed in detail at the Covid core group meeting on March 6. The meeting had recommended that the working hours of the theaters should be changed from 9 am to 9 pm to 12 noon to 12 at night to reduce the spread of the disease. The government has rescheduled the operating hours of cinema theaters in the state on the condition that they strictly adhere to the Kovid norms.
