THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime Branch sources said that SI Jacob Simon, who had impersonated high-ranking officials at the police headquarters, would be suspended immediately. Simon is in hiding. A team led by Kollam Crime Branch DySP Biju Kumar has intensified the investigation to find him.

The team has not been able to track his location as his phone was switched off. They are investigating whether he is using another phone. An investigation is underway into whether anyone else was involved in the scam.

It is learnt that Simon had faced disciplinary actions including suspension earlier in his career. During his time in the SAP, he was in charge of weapons protection and was suspended for smuggling a firearm without permission. He is currently the coordinator of the Janamaithri Office, which operates under the Crime Branch ADGP at the police headquarters. According to the information received by the Crime Branch investigation, Simon had committed fraud using forged certificates in the names of DGP, Crime Branch ADGP and IGs.
