NEW DELHI: Senior Congress leader P C Chacko has left the party. Chacko said that the party has ignored him. He has sent his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. “There is no Congress party in Kerala, there are only A and I factions and the seat-sharing between these two groups are going on in Kerala,” Chacko alleged.

“The election committee which has more than 40 persons have not conducted any discussions yet. Even the selection of candidates is done on the basis of specific interests. As per the usual procedure at the party, a panel should be formed in each constituency and such panels should send the possible list of candidates to the screening committee. This list should be also sent to the central election committee. But all the lists and names are with Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala or with other group leaders,” the senior Congress leader said.

“Anybody who functions above the confines of groups cannot survive in Congress. Even the high command is compelled to protect the groups in Kerala and am resigning under these circumstances. No serious discussions and brainstorming has been held for the selection of candidates for such a crucial election. Both groups have prepared separate lists and it was given to the screening committee. I don’t know where I will join tomorrow. Let my resignation open the eyes of Congress leadership,” he added.
