THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K Muraleedharan said that he is ready to contest as the Congress candidate from Nemom. It is reported that he will soon meet the High Command to announce his readiness. The High Command has demanded strong candidates in Nemom and Vattiyoorkav. The High Command has also asked Oommen Chandy and Chennithala if they are ready to contest in these constituencies. But the position of the two is still unclear. Earlier, there were rumors that Oommen Chandy would be contesting in Nemom or Vattiyoorkavu.
Nemom is the only sitting seat of BJP in Kerala. Last time K Surendran Pillai was the UDF candidate here in which the front came third. The Congress is of the view that the constituency can be won by fielding a strong candidate. V Sivankutty is the LDF candidate in this hotly contested constituency.
