KUTTIYADI: Protesting against the allotment of Kuttiyadi seat to the Kerala Congress, several hundreds of CPM party workers carrying party flags and a banner staged a march here. The workers accused the district leadership of failing to convince the national and state leadership of the local sentiment. The day before yesterday, about 200 people had protested against the decision of the front and to nominate KP Kunhahammed Kutty as the candidate.
The CPI (M) had lodged a complaint with the central leadership but was ignored which triggered the protest. Demonstrators said the response is to protect the dignity of the red flag. Branch secretaries also participated in today's demonstration. But protesters said they would not field any rebel candidates. The protest was staged by the activists under the Kunnummal Area Committee. It is learned that the party is preparing for a consensus discussion on the issue following the party's protest.
