THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CBI has taken over the investigation in the most sensational Jesna missing case. The Thiruvananthapuram unit of the CBI is probing the case. The Kerala High Court had earlier ordered a CBI probe into the disappearance of 22-year-old Jesna Mariya James from her home at Pathanamthitta in 2018. The CBI had also informed the court that they would take over the case.

The government informed the high court that they had made all possible human intervention in the disappearance case. The government also informed the court that they had no objection another agency investigating the case. The high court then asked the CBI to clarify their stand in the matter and the latter informed to take over the case.

Jesna, daughter of James Joseph went missing from her home at Santhosh Kavala at Vechoochira in Pathanamthitta on March 22, 2018. She was a second year BCom student of Kanjirapppally St Dominics College. Jesna left home saying that she was going to her relative’s house in Mundakayam. Although the local police and a team led by IG investigated the case, no clues were obtained.

The crime branch had taken over the case and investigation started following protests. A probe was conducted in Bengaluru, Pune, Goa and Chennai. More than 4000 phone calls were subjected for examination. The DGP had announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh to those giving any information. Her friends were questioned but no evidences were obtained. There were rumours that she was seen in many places, but an investigation proved to be false.

A protest was staged by pouring oil on high court judge’s car demanding to find her. R Reghunath of Kottayam poured oil on Justice V Shercy’s car.
