NEW DELHI: Hours after veteran Congress leader Oommen Chandy expressed his willingness to contest from the Nemom constituency, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala too informed the Congress high command that he is ready to contest from the constituency. Both the leaders have responded that their decision will be approved by the high command Meanwhile, the high command has responded that no decision has been taken on the matter so far.

Both Chennithala and Oommen Chandy have said that the decision in this matter should be taken by the high command. A few hours ago, Ramesh Chennithala had told the media that the candidate in Nemom should remain as a surprise.

The high command had suggested that a strong Congress candidate should contest from Nemom. Following this, it was learnt that the high command had asked Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala whether they could contest in the constituency.
