PATHANAMTHITTA: The BJP's move to field a representative of the Pandalam Palace in the assembly elections, has failed. The party’s desire shattered after the palace asserted that there is no politics in Ayyappan issue and they don’t want to contest in polls. The Pandalam Palace did not accept the second proposal forwarded by the BJP to field an independent candidate.
The BJP approached palace executive committee president Sasikumar Verma and secretary Narayana Verma to contest polls. BJP state chief K Surendran called on the two at the palace a few days ago.
The BJP made such an attempt aiming Aranmula constituency. If this had happened, the BJP calculated that the Sabarimala issue would be discussed again in the elections and that the NDA would be the beneficiary.
