WAYANAD: Minister EP Jayarajan has said that an appeal will be filed in the Supreme Court against the High Court quashing the government's decision to withdraw the Assembly ruckus case. He added that if he ends up in jail, he will do it and the legal battle will continue.

According to the chargesheet, Rs 2 lakh worth of public property was destroyed in 2015 following a scuffle that disrupted KM Mani's budget speech. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and others requested High Court not to withdraw the case.

The chargesheet has been filed against six MLAs including KD Jaleel, EP Jayarajan, V Sivankutty and CK Sadasivan. The court ruled that the case could not be withdrawn as the accused had committed crimes including destruction of public property. The government approached the high court while the proceedings of the case were progressing in the trial court.

The government had initially filed a petition in the trial court seeking the withdrawal of the case registered by the crime branch, including destruction of public property, which was dismissed. Subsequently, a review petition was filed in the High Court.
