KOTTAYAM: Disappointed over rumours that Oommen Chandy is going to contest from Nemom, Congress workers turn up in huge numbers near the senior leader’s residence in Puthupally. A worker who was able to climb up on the roof of Chandy’s home is staying there after issuing suicide threats. The workers are demanding that Oommen Chandy should not leave the Puthupally seat at any cost.

The workers have given a warm reception to their dear leader on his return from Delhi. The sloganeering of Congress workers began after blocking his car. Oommen Chandy and his accomplices had to put out mammoth efforts to get inside his home.

“We will not leave our dear leader. Our leader, the apple of our eye, we will give even our blood and strength in return for him”—these were some of the slogans raised by the Congress workers including women. Even a giant cut out of Oommen Chandy is erected in front of his home. Kottayam DCC has also sent a letter to AICC demanding not to change Oommen Chandy’s constituency.

Senior leader K C Joseph has said that there is no special circumstance for Oommen Chandy to leave Puthupally. The most important thing is UDF should come back to power and for that Oommen Chandy must campaign across Kerala. KC Joseph is also standing with Oommen Chandy to pacify the aggrieved Congress workers.
