KOTTAYAM: Oommen Candy has said that the party has officially recognised his candidature from Puthupally. He also added that the party has finalised the candidates for 81 constituencies including Puthupally. “Only a few constituencies remains now, and among them, Nemom is the most important one. Neither the state leadership nor the national leadership has asked me to contest from Nemom,” Oommen Chandy has told media persons.

“I wanted to know the opinion of Puthupally on my candidature from Nemom. The pandemonium and protests erupted over a misunderstanding. Regarding Puthupaly, the nod was granted yesterday itself. I fully concur with the feelings of the workers. The people of Puthupally has helped me for generations. I respect their love and affection. I know the depth of their love and care,” he added.

“Will never leave Puthupally. Strong candidates should be fielded in every constituency. Congress leadership have no links with the controversies associated with the Nemom constituency. There is no conflict in Nemom and currently, talks are going on about who should be fielded. I cannot say a final word on contesting in two constituencies. Anyway, my candidature from Puthupally is confirmed,” the senior Congress leader said.
