THRISSUR: Mohammad Nahas, an RSP leader and state president of the RSP's youth wing, has joined the BJP. Last time, he had contested as a UDF candidate from Kaipamangalam in Thrissur. BJP leader AN Radhakrishnan welcomed Nahas to the party.

Earlier, RSP had demanded another seat instead of Kaipamangalam. Though the party demanded either Dharmadom or Kalliasseri, it later accepted Mattannur. Following this, Nahas left the party. With this, it has become clear that Congress will contest in Kaipamangalam. Former district panchayat member and Youth Congress state secretary Sobha Subin is likely to be the candidate here.
