THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students of class 9 will not have to take the exams as the state education department has decided to declare them "all pass" this academic year in view of the COVID pandemic. The decision regarding the Plus One exams will be taken later. The revision classes for classes 10 and Plus Two will continue till the end of this month.
The education department decided not to conduct year-end exams for classes other than 10th and Plus Two in the wake of the spread of COVID.
Currently, the all-pass system continues till the eighth standard. It will also be implemented in the ninth class subject to conditions.
Last year, the winners of the ninth class were decided on the basis of their marks in the quarterly and half-yearly examinations after schools were unable to complete the annual examination due to COVID. As the schools were not even able to conduct the quarterly and half-yearly examinations this time, the class promotion, from nine to ten, will be based on various factors including attendance in online classes.
