KANNUR: Congress activists have come to the fore demanding K Sudhakaran to contest polls against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Dharmadom constituency. Many e-mails have been sent to congress chief Sonia Gandhi demanding this. The activists of Kannur sent emails to the congress chief.
DCC leader Mambaram Divakaran said that it is the general feeling of Congress workers that K Sudhakaran should contest against Pinarayi. Divakaran was the UDF candidate in Dharmadom last time. Meantime, national and state leaders have not yet responded on the matter.
The activists said that if K Sudhakaran contests in Dharmadom, the UDF is sure to win the seat. The Congress was able to rule some panchayats in Dharmadam constituency. So, the activists hope that if a leader like K Sudhakaran contests, it will lead to a strong fight.
The congress gave Dharmadom to the Forward Bloc, a constituent party during seat sharing. However, the Forward Bloc has withdrawn from the decision taking into account the impact at the national level. With this, the responsibility is for the Congress to find a candidate for Dharmadom.
