THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a brief lull, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who stepped back from the party secretary’s post is again getting active in party politics. Inaugurating the election conventions in the district and declaring all moral support to the candidates, Kodiyeri one of the doyens of CPM has impacted the campaign with his strong presence.

When asked about is there any possibility for a second term he replied with two reasons and responded over party workers protest in various constituencies. He was talking on Kaumudi TV’s interview program—Straight Line.

“There is a peculiar situation this time. We have never seen such an instance before. The most important reason for it is the existing political situation and it is conducive for the left front. Another thing is the developmental projects fulfilled by the government. These two factors have heightened the confidence of the left-front workers. The landslide victory in local body polls is another factor,” he said.

When asked about the party worker’s protest reported from various areas over candidates, he replied:

“In 2006 also we had faced such issues. At that time, the party was facing bigger issues. Even after that nothing happened to the party. During the campaign, the party moved in a unified spirit. Those are just local expressions of party worker’s sentiments and they are very natural too,” Kodiyeri said.
