THRISSUR: The government has given permission to hold Thrissur Pooram as usual, putting an end to the worries of Pooram lovers. The government has decided to hold all the celebrations as per the Covid norms. The permission was given in a meeting called by the chief secretary.

Everything from the sample fireworks will go on as usual. The number of elephants will not be reduced. All rituals will take place in the same way. Pooram exhibition is also allowed. Preparations are underway at the eight component temples of the Paramekavu and Thiruvambadi devaswoms. Pooram will be conducted in strict compliance with the Covid regulations. People will be controlled. One cannot enter the Pooram ground without wearing a mask. Social distance must be maintained.

All the ceremonies will be held as usual from the opening of the South Gate. Fireworks will also be allowed in all its glory. The Paramekavu and Thiruvambadi temples had asked the government to allow the Pooram to be held as usual. Devaswom Board Minister Kadakampally Surendran had promised to remove the uncertainty in the management of Thrissur Pooram. Thrissur Pooram is on April 23.
